The Green Tourism Business Scheme criteria cover 120 measures of sustainability including:

  • A compulsory section
  • Management
  • Communication
  • Energy
  • Water
  • Purchasing
  • Waste
  • Transport
  • Wildlife

The criteria are based on practical actions relevant to:

  • Tourism accommodation
  • Holiday parks
  • Visitor attractions
  • Country parks
  • Offices
  • Shop
  • Historic buildings
  • Transport operators (as a pilot project)
  • Tour operators (as a pilot project)
  • Wildlife tourism
  • Farm tourism

A minimum number of measures must be implemented: 30 for Bronze; 45 for Silver and 60 for Gold.
